Oteil Burbridge & Friends concluded their fall tour over the weekend with stops at The Caverns Amphitheater in Pelham, TN and Charleston Pour House in Charletson, SC, where the group welcomed a guest appearance by Kanika Moore of Doom Flamingo.

First, the band comprised of Burbridge, Jason CrosbyDuane BettsSteve and John KimockMelvin Seals, and Lamar Williams Jr. visited The Caverns on Friday, September 29th. The group shuffled selections from throughout the band members’ individual catalogs, including songs by Jason Crosby and Duane Betts, and from Oteil’s time playing with Betts’ father Dickey Betts in The Allman Brothers Band, plus tunes from the Jerry Garcia Band and Grateful Dead songbooks.

Burbridge briefly donned a “Macho Man” Randy Savage costume during Friday’s show. The Dead & Company bassist recently discussed his newfound love of pro wrestling in an interview with Live For Live Music.

Oteil & Friends then continued on to South Carolina, where the band welcomed two special guests, first drummer Jeff Sipe (Apt Q-258), who was a founding member of Col. Bruce Hampton‘s Aquarium Rescue Unit alongside Burbridge, and Kanika Moore of Charleston-based synthwave band Doom Flamingo. Sipe sat in on “Fixin’ to Die” in the first set, while Moore joined in on “Statesboro Blues” in the second.

After playing a sold-out outdoor show as part of the venue’s seasonal “Lot” series, Oteil and Sipe stuck around to honor their late mentor Col. Bruce on the more intimate indoor stage as part of Zambi Jam featuring Lureto.
