The Jake Peavy Foundation and Outsiders Presents have announced the inaugural Outsiders Ball, a two-day collaboration between Peavy, the mega-Grateful-Dead-fan, and MLB starting pitcher (formerly of the San Francisco Giants, but now a free agent), and Phil Lesh, the Dead’s legendary bassist. The Outsiders Ball is set to take place in Peavy’s hometown of Mobile, AL on November 21st and 22nd.

On the 21st, Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band will play what’s being described as “an ultra-exclusive” show at a private venue in downtown Mobile. Besides the aforementioned private set, the event will also include a silent auction, the proceeds of which will directly support individuals and families affected by the recent hurricanes in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean as well as victims of the Northern California fires. Proceeds will be donated to a variety of organizations via The Jake Peavy Foundation on behalf of Jake and Phil and Jill Lesh.

Soul Sounds, and Jake Peavy himself all set to join in for a special night of music.

Peavy and was effusive in his appreciation of being able to partner up with one of his musical heroes for such a great cause. Peavy explained in a press release: “We can’t thank Phil enough for joining us for this special week in Mobile bringing our community together to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Having an original member of the Grateful Dead in my hometown, teaming up to give back––it’s just going to make for a very memorable couple of days and we can’t wait.”
