Somewhere between 10 and 20 people were injured this past weekend at Summer Ends festival in Tempe, Arizona when the crowd rushed the stage during Rebelution’s set. Two songs into the set, the performance was put on hold for about 45 minutes while EMTs and security carried the injured individuals out of the crowd. Announcements were made over the loudspeaker to move back and make room.
“Unfortunately, a few overzealous fans began pushing towards the stage causing the people closest to the stage to have their space compromised,” said festival organizer Tom LaPenna. “We paused the music for 30 minutes allowing security and medics to assist those wanting to leave the area closest to the stage and assist anyone needing medical attention. Unfortunately, the actions of a few affected many people.”
The predominantly hip-hop festival featured performances from Kanye West, Big Sean, Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, Slightly Stoopid and more big names throughout the weekend.
