Michael Angelakos, frontman of beloved indie pop band Passion Pit, announced yesterday that the group’s new album Kindred would be released on April 21st. He then debuted the first two singles off that album, an upbeat, bubbly anthem titled “Lifted Up (1985)” and the sweet, nostalgic “Where The Sky Hangs.” Pre-orders for the anticipated follow-up to their highly successful 2012 LP Gossamer begins today.

According to Rolling Stone, Angelakos released a handful of new songs about two months ago on his personal SoundCloud, yet none of those songs made the final cut for Kindred. Angelakos, who suffered from bi-polar disorder, also recently appeared in a PSA for Glenn Close’s non-profit, Bring Change 2 Mind. He describes his struggles with the disease and the steps he has taken to overcome it, “Once I started really just accepting my mental condition, it stung for a little bit and then everything improved.”
