Update: From Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Facebook Page, we have learned that the NYE lineup will be all of JRAD, with Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton on guitar, Marco Benevento on keys, Joe Russo on drums, and Dave Dreiwitz and Phil Lesh pulling double bass duty. Should be two amazing shows!

Last night, Phil Lesh & Friends played the second night of a two-night run at the Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. With a band that included Jackie Greene, John Kadlecik, Jason Crosby, and Joe Russo, the band promised a special announcement at their first show, and fulfilled that promise last night – the announcement of a two-night New Years Eve run at the Capitol Theatre.

Dubbed PhilRAD – in reference to Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD) – Phil Lesh will be performing in some incantation on December 30th and 31st at the Capitol Theatre. While there is currently no definitive information, regarding ticketing or the band’s exact lineup, as Jambase points out, the band will include Joe Russo, Tom Hamilton, Scott Metzger, and Marco Benevento.  The group’s bassist, Dave Dreiwitz, will play in some capacity during the two-night stand. This is the first time that Lesh will ring in the New Years on the East Coast since 1969.

Lesh is gearing up to perform a number of shows at the Capitol Theatre next month, with an extended residency that occupies every Friday and Saturday from Halloween through the end of November. With a different lineup each weekend, and now this NYE announcement, Phil is certainly bringing the end-of-the-year heat to Port Chester!
