Phil Lesh continues to pay tribute to the Grateful Dead by the years at his own venue, Terrapin Crossroads, and the year-by-year festivities is approaching one of the Dead’s major peaks: 1977.
After taking time off the road from late 1974 through 1975, the Dead were primed and ready for touring again by 1976. However, the group reached their full potential the following year, with compositions like the beloved “Terrapin Station” and some seriously amazing performances. Lesh will be joined by Stu Allen, Scott Metzger, Scott Guberman, Jeanette Ferber, Pete Lavezzoli and Alex Koford for “one of his favorite shows from 1977.”
The show will be held at Terrapin Crossroads on June 12th, with limited tickets available at the door. Read the Facebook post below from Terrapin Crossroads for more details:
Phil Lesh & Friends continue to explore the music, history and stories of the Grateful Dead.
Our ongoing retrospective has now reached 1977. After taking a break from touring in late ’74 through 1975, the band returned in June 1976 with two tours to the East Coast. These now seem like a warm-up for ’77, which turned into a banner year for the Dead. Besides the shows, some of which figure in anyone’s list of top GD performances, the band recorded “Terrapin Station”, and played a huge outdoor concert in Englishtown, NJ that drew over 100,000 listeners. It wasn’t easy choosing, but Phil has picked one of his favorite shows from 1977 to recreate at TXR on June 12.
Join Phil, along with Stu Allen, Scott Metzger, Scott Guberman, Pete Lavezzoli, Alex Koford and Jeanette Ferber to bring back wonderful memories and the musical vibe of the Dead in the late 70’s
