Phil Lesh and Friends will be performing at the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music on April 14th and 15th. The performances will be produced by Peter Shapiro, the business mastermind behind such ventures as The Brooklyn BowlThe Capitol TheatreRelix Magazine, and the Lockn’ Festival.

Last November, Phil signed an exclusive residency-oriented agreement with Shapiro. It seems the agreement is paying off for both parties, as Phil will be bringing the music of The Grateful Dead to BAM for the first time. Shapiro is also quite elated for this musical event.

With good reason, I might add. The “friends” performing at this concert include drummer Joe Russo, keyboardist John Medeski, guitarist Warren Haynes, and Jackie Greene (who basically does whatever he wants on stage). Wow!

About the performances, Shapiro said, “Warren is flying up from Wanee before he travels to Australia with Gov’t Mule just to be a part of this. Phil is doing the same between runs at the Cap and Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. These shows are going to be special.”

Tickets go on sale March 7th, at 10AM, and can be found through the BAM website.
