Thirteen years ago tonight, Phish played to a capacity crowd at the Utica Memorial Auditorium (known these days as the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium) in Utica, NY, and affirmed to one and all that the band’s then-new 3.0 era was as bright as its sparkling past.

Transporting the crowd to what felt like a rager from the 1990s, this concert is affectionately known as the “Guyutica” show due to the band’s brilliant and seamless interjection of “Guyute” themes throughout much of the first set, including teases during an epic “David Bowie”, “Wilson” (‘I must inquire Guyute…’), “Saw It Again”, and a wicked “Run Like An Antelope” where the “Marco Esquandolas” lyric was swapped for a “Guyute” tease.

The fun didn’t end at set break either, as the band returned to craft a non-stop second set that transitioned into and out of just about every tune, featuring a rocking cover of The Who‘s “Drowned” to open the set, “Tela”, a “Split Open And Melt” odyssey that bookended The Mighty Diamonds‘ “Have Mercy”, and “Piper”. The set finally wrapped with an appropriate “Slave To The Traffic Light” and sent fans home happy following a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s “Good Times Bad Times” during the encore. This 2010 performance was one for the 3.0 Phistory books.
