A fatal stabbing occurred outside Hampton Coliseum during Friday’s Phish concert, leaving one person dead and two others injured, according to police.
The Hampton Police Division said officers responded at approximately 9:33 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 1000 block of Coliseum Drive, near the venue’s parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found two men suffering from laceration injuries, one of which was life-threatening. A third victim later arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening wound.
Investigators determined that an argument among several individuals escalated into a physical altercation, during which one victim sustained fatal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The other two victims remain hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the suspect fled on foot but was quickly detained by officers in the area. Detectives have since identified all parties involved and described the case as an isolated incident.
Phish acknowledged the tragedy in a statement on Saturday, writing , “During last night’s show, a tragic incident took place in the parking lot outside Hampton Coliseum… We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected.”
