On Friday, Phish continued the second week of their 2019 summer tour with a one-off performance at Charlotte, NC’s PNC Music Pavilion. Falling on the summer solstice, the band helped welcome in the summer season with a two-set heater in the Tar Heel State. As tour rolls on, Phish continues to unveil pro-shot footage with “Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S.” from their recent Charlotte performance.
Phish opened up their first set in Charlotte with “Have Mercy”, played for the first time ever in the opening slot and the first time during a first set since Camp Oswego in 1999. The band continued on with renditions of “Gotta Jibboo” and “Free” before unleashing “Ginseng Sullivan”, played for the first time since the Baker’s Dozen. “Ginseng” smoothly coasted into “Tweezer”, which was ultimately left open-ended going into the second set. Up until Friday, Phish had never played “Tweezer” throughout the course of a two-set performance.
The band continued on with “Passing Through” and “Mercury” before landing back into “Tweezer”, allowing the raucous Charlotte crowd another opportunity to step into the freezer. Phish closed out their second set with a bouncy take on “Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S.”, marking the second Kasvot Växt tune of the set.
