Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has debuted “Elephante”, the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album, Perspective, due out on April 8th. Today’s single release arrives along with a Don Cherel-directed music video.

“Elephante” marks a first for Pigeons, the Baltimore-based quartet. This new single marks the first time Pigeons has released a studio track before playing it in front of a live audience. Arriving with horns accompaniment from Here Come The Mummies, “Elephante” showcases frontman “Scrambled Greg” Ormont‘s penchant for upbeat songwriting and eccentric lyrical delivery.

Ben Carrey serves as the backbone for this new offering, supplying a thunderous bassline that sits atop some steady beats from Alex “Gator” Petropulos on the drum kit. As always, guitarist Jeremy Schon adds the masterful guitar work that has become the basis for Pigeons’ high-energy, psychedelic funk sound.

The music video for “Elephante” is as whacky as one would expect from the Baltimore four-piece. Filmed at Clark’s Elioak Farm in Ellicott City, MD—home of the once-revered local attraction, The Enchanted Forest—each member of the band takes on a different role in a whacky and whimsical fairy tale. They play knights in not-so-shining armor who save a damsel in distress from a poorly guarded castle as human-sized animals dance along to the rhythmic music.

“As soon as I heard the first demo of Elephante, I was overwhelmed with excitement and just let it rip vocally,” said Ormont in a press release. “Musically, it knocks you off your chair. Lyrically, it’s about living life to the fullest. As for the music video, we just let our imaginations run wild on this one.”
