Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has shared a pro-shot video of “Couldn’t We All” featuring Tomo Fujita from their show at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, on October 31st, 2019, which marks the band’s first content release from its Halloween show.

The first stop on Pigeons’ Stop Making Cake Halloween run saw the band perform many Talking Heads and Cake covers for the very first time. Set one included a “High As Five” opener, which comes off the band’s 2020 release, Presto, as well as covers of Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)” and Cake’s “Short Skirt Long Jacket”. Before the last song of the opening frame began, Tomo Fujita made his way to the stage for a sit-in on “Couldn’t We All”.

Tomo and Pigeons have built an exciting friendship ever since the two collaborated at Paradise Rock Club in Boston back in 2018, and Halloween was an accurate measuring stick of the chemistry they have developed. A professor at Berklee College of Music, Tomo took the hip-hop and funk-infused “CWA” to new heights. It began with the typical slow groove before singer and guitarist Greg Ormont launched into the first verse and chorus. Guitarist Jeremy Schon took a quick solo before moving towards a Tomo-led improv section.

The professor flexed his chops with a clean tone, building to a peak that dropped to a spaced-out valley. Schon and Fujita then dueled, quickly trading phrases and lines with delay and reverb-laden tones. Several more peaks finally led back to the final verse and chorus where Ormont sang “Couldn’t we all just get along?/Let’s end the song,” and sent the crowd into set break.
