Pink Talking Fish, the Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Phish hybrid tribute fusion band, played two sold-out shows at The Middle East venue in Cambridge, MA last weekend. Running with a theme of “Where The Wild Things Are”, the band’s first night on October 30th featured a theme of Animals while Halloween featured a Gamehendge Phish theme.

The first night featured a mixture of songs from Pink Floyd’s Animals with Phish and Talking Heads songs intertwined, with some clever play on song titles. songs like Phish’s “Runaway Jim” and “The Dogs” surrounded Pink Floyd’s “Dogs”, and Phish’s “Guyute”, about the ugly pig surrounded “Pigs (3 Different Ones)”. The second set was all animal songs, including the particularly-intriguing cover of Floyd’s “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict” from 1969 experimental album Ummagumma.

Eric Gould Talks About Pink Talking Fish: ‘I Really Feel Like We’re Just Getting Started On This’

Halloween included a performance of Trey Anastasio’s senior thesis/rock opera project Gamehendge, of course with Pink Floyd and Talking Heads tunes included. The lengthy set included a total of 24 songs, best outlined by PTF bassist Eric Gould’s extensive set list and notes. The extended 40-minute encore featured all 12 members of ShwiKus, as well as Holly Bowling.

The band also just announced a “Pink Talking Fish Are Dead”-themed Dead & Company after party on November 10th at the Palladium in Worcester, MA. Tickets are available here.
