Guitarist, vocalist, and producer Ari Teitel has a message of hope to offer listeners with his new single, “We’re Gonna Get By”, premiering today via Live For Live Music.

Harkening back to the aura of the golden age of soul, the track begins as glistening Rhodes groove under Ari’s hopeful lyrics and explodes into Chaka Khan-style bass-driven funk by the chorus. The track, Teitel told to Live For Live Music, was an exercise in togetherness and optimism in a time of isolation and division. “’We’re Gonna Get By’ came to me one day while showering, as many songs do,” he said. “I started thinking about all the negativity brewing between COVID, 45, and the various wars and crises going on. Though I initially felt sad, I’m optimistic for humanity ultimately finding peace and love, and wanted to channel that sense of hope in this song.”

Teitel is a two-time Grammy nominee for his work with Mardi Gras Indians funk group Cha Wa, which he recently left along with several other members to form The Rumble ft. Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. A fixture of the vibrant New Orleans music scene, the guitarist/vocalist/producer also maintains a role in a wide array of projects stemming from the Crescent City. For “We’re Gonna Get By”, he gathered a krewe of NOLA-connected artists including Nigel Hall (Rhodes/Moog bass), Erica Falls and Tracci Lee (backing vocals), Jamison Ross (drums), and Pedro Segundo (percussion) at Marigny Studio and enlisted engineer Mack Major, mixing engineer Chris Boerner, and mastering engineer Sam Brawner to help bring his vision to life.
