At the end of MayLes Claypool issued a statement noting that Primus would take a break from touring following the band’s current run supporting their new album, The Desaturating Seven. Noting that Primus is “in the midst of our longest summer tour of many moons” with Mastodon, Claypool explained that “This will be the last Primus run for a bit as we will need to cool-out for awhile. … So, if you want to get your Goblin Rock fix, now is the time to do so as it will be the last time to witness the glory of the Desaturating Seven production.”

Two weeks later, in the beginning of June, Primus added three additional tour dates around their September festival appearances, with fans assuming the shows would be the group’s final performances ahead of the band’s “cool-out” period. However, it seems as though Primus was not totally done with their 2018 performances, given that the group has just extended their fall tour, with their Ambushing The Storm tour spanning from September 18th to October 8th with 14 shows.

As the eccentric bassist explained in a Facebook post,

Hey, all you Primates out there. So, due to popular demand and the fact that such a spectacular time on this latest summer tour was had, we’ve decided to extend our short fall run into three glorious Goblin filled weeks of Primus. If you haven’t seen it yet or want to catch it one last time, now’s your chance to get your “gob on”. We might even slip a little Nutbutter onto your Glass Sandwich as we all ride the Hamburger Train to Kalamazoo…well maybe. And, don’t forget, dress like your favorite Goblin or Primus character and win a prize. (We are thinking jars of Pickled Ler Underpants but we’ve yet to work that out).

Primus’ fall tour will begin on September 18th with a show at Riverside, California’s The Fox Theater. A newly added date on September 19th in Flagstaff, Arizona, comes ahead of the band’s previously announced festival appearance in San Antonio, Texas, on September 22nd. The band has also added a show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 23rd, before finishing off their previously announced tour dates, which span from September 25th through 30th.

On October 1st, Primus will head to Madison, Wisconsin, following up the show with a three-night run in the Midwest, featuring stops in Davenport, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Deadwood, South Dakota. Following the band’s standout sold-out Red Rocks Amphitheatre performance with Mastodon in early May, Primus will close out their new fall tour dates with a two-night stand at Denver’s Ogden Theatre on October 7th and 8th.

Tickets for these new tour dates will go on sale to the general public this Friday, July 20th, at 10 a.m. (local). The band also notes that it will host a special pre-sale, including VIP upgrade options, tomorrow, Tuesday, July 17th, at 10 a.m. (local). True to Les Claypool’s word in his statement earlier today, for fans who come to any of these shows in costume, they will receive preferred entry to the performance.
