While many have paid tribute to Prince over the last few months, this newly announced event looks to be the biggest yet. Prince’s family have announced that they will hold an official tribute concert at U.S. Bank Stadium, which is the Minnesota Vikings’ brand new football stadium that is set to open this year. The concert will take place on October 13th, and tickets and more details will be announced in the coming months. Performers will be announced in a rolling fashion over the next weeks.

Prince’s family released a statement about the event via the Associated Press:

“[We] have been moved by the tremendous love and support of Prince’s friends and fans around the world…We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince’s life, music and legacy, and there is no better place to do it than his hometown of Minneapolis…We are honored by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible.”

While no artists have been announced for this stadium-sized tribute concert, one can only imagine that greats from across the world of music are lining up to pay their respects to The Purple One. We’ll have more info on this as it’s announced, so stay tuned for more updates on this exciting tribute to Prince.
