NEA Jazz Master Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr., along with NOLA 2 NOFO, will launch the new Quantum Leap Music Festival in just a couple of weeks on September 13th–15th, 2024.
The three-day festival, the first of its kind and caliber on Long Island, will bring a taste of New Orleans culture to LI’s oldest vineyard—Castello di Borghese Vineyard & Winery. More than two-dozen award-winning musicians from across the New Orleans roots music spectrum have been hand-picked by Donald Harrison Jr. to appear, including Cyril Neville (The Meters and The Neville Brothers), Fred Wesley (James Brown & The JBs, Parliament-Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins),The Headhunters, Preservation Hall Legacy Band, and more. The event will also feature artisanal wines, beers, seafood, and barbecue courtesy of North Fork food and beverage.
“At the inaugural Quantum Leap Music Festival, NOLA 2 NOFO and I will present a wide stylistic range of New Orleans’ greatest musical artists in their respective styles,” said Donald Harrison Jr, who serves as the festival’s artistic director. “The first day is a jazz, blues, funk, and soul-drenched, dance-oriented jazzy bounce hip-hop party. The second day features traditional jazz and modern jazz with touches of soul. The third day showcases zydeco, cajun, and other New Orleans music.
“This festival has something for everyone and will expose styles of music you may not have heard before, but you will leave loving. You can chill, dance, or party as the festival bridges aspects of many of your favorite festivals at the historic Borghese Vineyard & Winery in the beautiful setting of North Fork, Long Island.”
Quantum Leap Music Festival will open its gates at 3:00 p.m. daily and host live music from 4:00–10:30 p.m. The event is for ages 21 and up.
