Queens of the Stone Age have canceled all remaining 2024 tour dates. The announcement comes after the band was forced to scrap a number of shows in Europe so frontman Josh Homme could return to the U.S. for immediate emergency surgery.
“QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year,” the band wrote in a statement posted to social media.
Among the postponed performances are shows in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Memphis, while festival appearances at Soundside Music Festival, Mempho Music Festival, and Corona Capital Festival are all marked as canceled.
The announcement said, “Festival ticket holders are advised to visit specific event sites for updated information. Ticket holders for QOTSA shows will be contacted by point of purchase with further information about the new dates.”
The post did not mention any specific surgery or condition, and the band’s representative didn’t respond to Billboard‘s request for additional information. Back in 2022, Homme, 51, was diagnosed with a form of cancer he declined to specify, but in June 2023—just after QOTSA kicked off their first tour in five years—Homme confirmed that surgery to remove the cancer had been successful. In November, he told ITV News, “I’m good. I’m all clear,” adding, “I feel the best I’ve felt all year.”
