After months of continued anticipation, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has shared an update about the status of the band’s new album. It seems that anticipation will continue to grow, as the interview offered some new information but very little of it concrete.

When asked about the increasing duration between albums, Greenwood said, “Sure. Thom [Yorke] is always looking for new technology, like Phil [Selway], basically everyone. We didn’t do anything together for too long, so restarting took a lot of time. We are now working periods, on and off. This afternoon I will be working with Thom on a song that we started yesterday. We’ll see where it leads.”

Greenwood also confirmed that he was re-working an old song called “Lift”, saying: “What people don’t know is that, on every album, there’s usually one old song that’s a lot older. On In Rainbows for example, the song “Nude” existed twenty years. The first version was not essentially different, you would recognize it, but we never found the right arrangement. “Lift” is another old song that has not yet found the right shape. But if an idea is good, it also remains good, in whatever form. Did you know that Blondie’s “Heart Of Glass” Blondie was originally a country & western song?”
