Rebelution has returned with their first new single in almost three years with “Satisfied”, released on Friday via Easy Star Records.

“Satisfied” hears the band stick close to their trademark blend of Southern California rock and traditional reggae while vocalist Eric Rachmany sings along, “What do you value, is it quality or quantity? / What’s the top commodity? / Either way it’s all about fairness and equality / That’s what we wanna see, what we always strive to be / A force in this reality, with a true identity.”

“A lot of the lyrical content has a lot to do with what I was just talking about: imagining being on stage, singing in front of a crowd. The lyrics are welcoming to the audience,” Rachmany told American Songwriter with the song’s arrival this week. “As much as Rebelution has grown over the past few years, we still feel like this close-knit community. There’s a lyric in the song: We hold our own and our footprint shows that our one is worth a million. We really feel like the energy our fans put out is worth that much. Even though it feels like a small community, we have such a big footprint.”

“Satisfied” marks Rebelution’s first original release since their 2018’s Free Rein studio album, although the band did release a dub-inspired remix compilation album last year with the 15-track Dub Collection.

Rebelution had hoped to spend much of last year on the road with their planned Good Vibes Summer Tour with special guests Steel Pulse, The Green, Kenzamdi, and DJ Mackle, but those dates were of course scrapped with the shutdown of the North American concert industry in early March.

“The last year has been pretty bizarre… we haven’t performed,” Rachmany also told American Songwriter. “We’ve been a band for 16 years now and I can’t remember a summer where we didn’t play a show. This is all new territory for us.”
