In 1962, John Lennon got himself a J-160E Gibson Acoustic guitar for £161. He would use that same guitar to record songs like “Love Me Do”, “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, “She Loves You”, and more, but the guitar tragically went missing at a holiday concert in 1963. Lennon just replaced it, at the time, with a 1964 model of the same guitar.

Now, over 50 years later, not only has the guitar resurfaced, but someone spent $2.4 Million just to have it! Appraised at $600,000-$800,000, the classic authenticated Lennon guitar was auctioned off last Saturday, November 7th.

The price shattered all records for rock and roll memorabilia, while the famous Ludwig Beatles drum head brought in a hearty $2,125 Million as well.

The guitar was also featured on songs like “All My Loving”, “Please Please Me”, “From Me To You” and more! It’s hard to imagine what any collector would do with such a unique artifact in rock and roll history.
