Today, along with the release of the Wake Of The Flood (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), the Grateful Dead and Rhino have invited fans behind the scenes and back in time to the studio with Playing In The Band: Wake Of The Flood, an interactive mixer that gives users full access to the album’s original multitrack recordings.

The Grateful Dead launched Playing In The Band last summer, allowing fans to remix their famous 1972 Sunshine Daydream concert in Veneta, OR, but this is the first time the band has used the feature to give fans a new look at one of its celebrated studio creations. Users can solo each instrument or mute certain voices to produce their own combinations and see how the layered parts come together to form songs including “Eyes Of The World”, “Stella Blue”, “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo”, and other Wake Of The Flood classics. Musicians can mute individual parts and jam along, filling in for any member of the band, or isolate specific voices for close listening.

Announced back in August along with the Wake Of The Flood: The Angel’s Share archival release, the album’s new 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, available today on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms, features seven remastered songs and Jerry Garcia’s previously unreleased demos for “Eyes Of The World” and “Here Comes Sunshine”. The deluxe edition also includes a bonus disc of live material from the Dead’s November 1st, 1973 show at Northwestern University’s McGaw Memorial Hall, the final night of a brief tour that immediately followed Wake Of The Flood‘s release.
