Richard Swift, keyboardist of The Shins, will be producing a new studio album from the jammy-rock band Guster. Swift is a successful solo artist and producer, and has worked with several bands, including Foxygen, Damien Jurado, The Mynabirds, Jessie Baylin and Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier, on album releases. He joined The Shins in 2011, replacing Eric Johnson.

For Guster, this will be the band’s seventh studio album, and their first since 2010. Guster’s current lineup for the recording session includes three of the band’s original members (Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, and Brian Rosenworcel), along with Blue Merle founder Luke Reynolds, a multi-instrumentalist who will play guitar, bass, banjo, keyboards, etc. etc. etc.

Swift will also be working on the production of a new album from keyboardist Marco Benevento. That process will reportedly begin in March. Swift is eager to record and produce a new collection of Benevento’s songs, including some vocal tunes.

We’re excited for both of these releases, and can’t wait to hear what Marco Benevento and Guster have to offer! Thanks Richard Swift!
