Riot Fest will celebrate its 20th birthday in 2025 with a huge lineup led by Blink-182, Weezer playing the Blue Album in full, Green Day, and Jack White. The hard-rock and punk-plus festival will return to Chicago’s Douglas Park on September 19th, 20th, and 21st.
The far-reaching festival will host top acts Sex Pistols (ft. original members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook with singer Frank Carter), IDLES, “Weird Al” Yankovic, The Beach Boys, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, Rilo Kiley, Knock Loose, Jawbreaker, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, The Pogues, The Front Bottoms, The Academy Is…, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Texas is the Reason, Dance Hall Crashers, Knuckle Puck, The Wonder Years, James, and many more. Other highlights of the 2025 Riot Fest lineup include Hanson, The Damned, Rico Nasty, Buzzcocks, Helmet, Touché Amoré, Marky Ramone, Puddles Pity Party, Mac Sabbath, and plenty more on the 90-plus band roster.
“We didn’t plan on making it for 20 years. We planned on making it through one weekend,” festival founder “Riot Mike” Petryshyn said. “But here we are—still loud, still weird, still building something bigger than we ever meant to.”
Over the past 20 years, Riot Fest has built a reputation as a flagship punk festival in the Midwest. In addition to its wide-ranging artist lineup, Riot Fest is famed for reuniting bands like The Replacements, The Original Misfits, Slayer, and Jawbreaker, who played its first show in 21 years at the 2017 festival. Riot Fest also regularly curates full-album performances of classic LPs and possesses the world’s largest John Stamos butter statue (which is particularly interesting for 2025 as the Full House actor regularly tours with The Beach Boys). The festival moved to Douglas Park in 2015 and just announced a long-term agreement with the Chicago Park District that ensures the festival will remain in the city “for years to come,” per a press release.
