While his primary musical vehicle Dopapod has been taken off the road due to the pandemic, that hasn’t stopped Rob Compa from remaining active throughout the year. Over the past nine months, the guitarist has busied himself with his Patreon page, posting free guitar lessons on Instagram, and appearing at gigs around his home of Burlington, VT.

On Sunday, Compa shared a new solo original, “Don’t Know Anything”, to his active social media accounts. This comes 15 months to the day after the release of his debut solo album, Same Damn Thing, last September. Fans may recall that the album’s title track found its way into the Dopapod songbook during the band’s palindromes set at Resonance Music & Arts Festival on September 19th, 2019.

In the basic acoustic rendition of the track shared to Compa’s Instagram and personal Facebook page, he indicates that “Don’t Know Anything” is merely a working title but that he is “open to title suggestions.” While devoid of the hard-hitting electric guitar work fans know from the Dopapod catalog, “Don’t Know Anything” is brimming with the cynical, dry wit that abounds on Compa’s lone solo record. The song’s scathing rebuke of the age of misinformation is summed up in the refrain, “The only thing I’m sure I know, is that my eyes don’t see/Sometimes I think our only chance, is if we all admit we don’t know anything.”
