Music technology isn’t for everyone. Those who do enjoy effects pedals and signal processors, however, really love the concept of using tech to fuel the sonic possibility of live performances. YouTube guitarist Rob Scallon is one of those musicians, and he recently teamed up with online gear retailer Sweetwater to set a new official Guinness World Record for putting together and using the world’s largest guitar effect pedalboard with a mind-blowing 319 pedals.

Scallon put his love for pedals on full display with the world record attempt, which recently took place at the Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, IN back in July. The performance saw Scallon use a whopping 319 pedals set up across 34 pedalboards, all connected by over 500 feet of audio cable. Scallon was accompanied by a quartet of tech-wise players, and had to abide by the rules set forth by the Guinness record policy, which stated there could be no duplicate pedals, no switching systems, and required the use of pedals only available from recognized manufacturers.
In total, the collection of pedals cost $90,000, utilized 1,248 level knobs, stretched out to 70 feet long, and required 34 different power supplies just to turn on.
