After decades of performing, blues singer Robert Finley finally released his debut album, Age Don’t Mean A Thing, in 2016. Though distributed by Big Legal Mess, the 67-year-old blues singer soon caught the attention of Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) who brought him aboard Easy Eye Sound. Auerbach went on to produce and co-write Finley’s 2017 follow-up, Goin’ Platinum!, and earlier this year Finley put out Sharecropper’s Son, also on Easy Eye Sound and produced by Auerbach.
Finley’s bluesman mystique lies at the heart of the new, Tim Hardiman-directed video for “I Can Feel Your Pain”. Premiered exclusively through Brooklyn Vegan on Thursday, Robert Finley acts as a sage as he reflects on the troubles of the world today and offers a shoulder, singing, “I Can Feel Your Pain”.
“‘I Can Feel Your Pain’ relates really to what is going on today,” Finley said in a statement. “From people losing loved ones to the pandemic, all the marches going on, people being slaughtered by the police. Even if you don’t really know about the situation from a personal perspective you feel sympathy for that person who had to go through those things and this song is for them.”
