Ahead of the release of Black Radio III: Supreme Edition on Friday, Robert Glasper on Monday shared “Therapy Pt. 2”, a new single featuring the late Mac Miller. The single is a sequel of sorts to “Therapy”, a track the Pittsburgh rapper released on his 2014 mixtape Faces.

“I was working with my friend. We were just finishing up this specific beat. I immediately sent it to him, and literally within an hour he sent me back that track,” Glasper said of the song’s creation. “Everything was on there—both verses the choruses—and you could tell it was not something that he had written before. He sang the chord changes. You can tell he really came up with that in the moment.”

The track arrives just over four years after the artist born Malcolm James McCormick‘s accidental overdose. The line in the second verse, “I just got the iPhone 6, it looks like Steve Jobs done ran out of tricks,” hints that Glasper has been hanging onto these vocals for a while, considering the iPhone 6 came out in September 2014. The two enjoyed a symbiotic artistic relationship during Miller’s life, with Glasper contributing piano to “God Is Fair, Sexy Nasty”, the final track on the rapper’s 2016 album, The Divine Feminine.

“We’re honored to share this beautiful song that Malcolm created with Robert Glasper with the world,” Miller’s estate added. “Anyone that followed Malcolm’s career closely is already aware of the respect he held for Robert’s work. The song is the product of the friendship the two shared and perfectly encapsulates the musical gifts of both Malcolm and Robert.”
