Mexican acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela will return to the United States and Canada for a series of tour dates in August and September. The pair, who are known for their propulsive—and occasionally percussive—take on the classical guitar, will play a whopping 12 shows in California as well as numerous additional shows along the Pacific Coast.
Rodrigo y Gabriela’s tour will kick off with a two-night stand at Strummer’s in Fresno before the group makes its way to Los Angeles for back-to-back shows at the Hollywood Bowl. Next up will be a run of dates in Colorado, including a stop at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which will be followed by more stops in Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Wyoming, and Montana. The pair will hit up a couple of festivals during their outing, with sets at Steamboat Springs, CO’s Strings Music Festival (August 22nd); Vancouver, BC’s Skookum Festival (September 8); and Sonoma, CA’s Harvest Music Festival (August 23).
Rodrigo y Gabriela last put out an album in 2014. Dubbed 9 Dead Alive, the record was a collection of songs celebrating the lives of nine influential (and deceased) people such as famed Spanish classical guitarist and luthier Antonio de Torres Jurado, novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky, abolitionist leader Harriet Tubman, and medieval Queen of France Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Tickets for the Rodrigo y Gabriela’s North American tour will go on sale this Friday, May 18th.
