The Rolling Stones have postponed the remainder of their tour of Austrailia and New Zealand following the death of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott.
The band issued the following statement on its website regarding the postponement:
“Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope they will fully understand the reason for this announcement. The Rolling Stones are planning to reschedule these postponed shows at a later date.”
The announcement comes just two days after Scott—Jagger’s longtime girlfriend and fashion designer—died from an apparent suicide.
On Tuesday, Jagger took to his Facebook page to express his grief, writing that he is “still struggling to understand how (his) lover and best friend could end her life like this.” He added that the two had shared “many wonderful years together and had made a great life.” Jagger ended his message saying he would “never forget her.”
The postponed shows on the Rolling Stones tour include the following:
Perth Arena, March 19
Adelaide Oval, March 22
Sydney Allphones Arena, March 25
Melbourne Rod Laver Arena, March 28
Macedon Ranges Hanging Rock, March 30
Brisbane Entertainment Centre, April 2
Auckland Mt Smart Stadium, April 5
