Roots N Blues Festival will return to Stephens Lake Park in Columbia, MO on October 7th-9th, 2022 with a lineup including WilcoChaka KhanBleachers, Tanya TuckerOld Crow Medicine Show, Tank and the BangasLarkin Poe, and Jon Batistewho is nominated for 11 awards at the 2022 Grammys (the most of any artist). The festival will feature 24 performances on two stages from a wide range of established and up-and-coming Americana, roots, blues, R&B, country, bluegrass, soul, folk, and rock acts, including five Missouri-based artists.

Established in 2007, Roots N Blues Festival celebrates music, art, and Midwest food and drink. It became the country’s first major women-owned music festival in 2019 when it was purchased by Tracy Lane and Shay Jasper, who were recently recognized in Pollstar’s Women of Live special issue for their commitment to inclusivity in all aspects of the festival. In 2021, they embraced a new vision for Roots N Blues Festival with a historic, all women-led lineup. This year, they have curated a lineup that is balanced with respect to gender and generation.

“The central focus of our vision for the future of this festival is equity—both on and off the stage,” says festival co-owner Tracy Lane. “We strive to remove the barriers around live music—gender, age, race, ability, and income—for our artists, staff, and audience.”

Instead of offering VIP packages this year, Roots N Blues Festival will give ticket buyers the option to make a $200 donation to Friends of the Festival (in addition to purchasing their three-day festival pass) for access to lounges and up-front viewing at both stages. Friends of the Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was formed during the pandemic to sustain the Roots N Blues Festival. In addition to employing hundreds of Missourians, the organization provides access to music literacy and history programs for children throughout the state.
