While performing at Governors Ball music festival in NYC yesterday, Ryan Adams did not take kindly to the background noise of producer Deadmau5’s EDM beats blaring across the grounds from another stage.
“Try to make this song on your fucking iPhone,” he declared. “This song is not going to match the robot music over there… It’s like we’re living in a fucking Terminator nightmare!”
Word of the rant apparently got back to Deadmau5, who later took to Twitter to express his feelings.
Meanwhile, Deadmau5 was experiencing technical difficulties throughout his closing set. Power issues caused the sound to cut out and sputter several times. Deadmau5 was seen removing his signature Mau5 head to yell at the tech crew, then shrugging it off and dropping down to do some push-ups right on stage.
After the fact, his team released the following statement: “During deadmau5 closing set tonight at Governors Ball there was a pause in the performance due to a power issue. Governors Ball and deadmau5 team worked quickly to rectify the situation and the show resumed.”
Governors Ball wraps up today on Randall’s Island with sets from Flying Lotus, The Black Keys, The War On Drugs, Weird Al Yankovic, Big Gigantic, Hot Chip, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Lana Del Rey and many more.
