Recently, Sheryl Crow announced her forthcoming studio album of collaborative tracks, Threads, set for release later this summer via Valor Music Co.

On Thursday, Sheryl Crow shared the second single off of her forthcoming album, “Live Wire”, featuring Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples. Premiered by Entertainment Weekly, Crow shared a video of the trio rehearsing the song in the studio to accompany the official release. “Live Wire” sees Raitt add some bluesy slide guitar licks next to Mavis’ soulful vocals, as Crow leads the group on vocals and acoustic guitar.

“Live Wire” comes on the heel of Crow’s “Redemption Day” release featuring Johnny Cash. The song was originally written by Crow back in the 1990s when it appeared on her self-titled 1996 album. Cash would go on to hear the song for the first time in 2003, shortly before his death in September of that year. Cash apparently asked a lot of questions about what the various lyrics penned by Crow may have meant, as he didn’t want to perform a cover the song without connecting with its core meaning, according to a statement shared via press release. Cash’s cover of “Redemption Day” would go on to appear on his 2010 American VI: Ain’t No Grave album.

Crow’s Threads collaborative album will feature 17 tracks full of the music world’s favorite musicians including Don Henley, Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, and more.
