Sierra Hull lets her inner ’90s kid “Shine” in new pro-shot footage of a Collective Soul cover from a superjam at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Held in Oak Hill, NY back in July, the string band summit included luminaries Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush along with a bevy of fresh faces and rising artists.
The fast-rising firebrand mandolinist leads the rendition of the 1994 chart-topper but is quick to share the spotlight with her many onstage collaborators. The full lineup includes AJ Lee (mandolin, AJ Lee and Blue Summit), Scott Gates (guitar, AJ Lee and Blue Summit), Nathaniel Sabat (bass, AJ Lee and Blue Summit), Jake Howard (mandolin, Henhouse Prowlers), Chris Dollar (guitar, Henhouse Prowlers), Ben Wright (banjo, Henhouse Prowlers), Joe Newbury (guitar), Tray Wellington (banjo, Tray Wellington Band), Jerry Douglas (dobro), Darol Anger (fiddle), Sam Bush (fiddle), Wes Corbett (banjo, Sam Bush Band), and Avery Merritt (fiddle, Sierra Hull Band).
Grey Fox was merely a mile marker of a banner summer for Sierra Hull filled with myriad musical collaborations. Throughout a breakneck-paced season of crisscrossing the United States, she has played with the likes of Billy Strings and Béla Fleck, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his Billy & The Kids, Eggy, Alison Brown, and many more.
Watch Sierra Hull lead a superjam on “Shine” by Collective Soul at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.
