Sigur Rós Release New Video Starring The Wire’s Mayor Tommy Carcetti

Iceland’s pride Sigur Rós recently released a narrated and theatrical music video for the song “Ekki Múkk.” The video stars actor Aiden Gillen, better known as Mayor Tommy Carcetti of HBO’s television series The Wire. The video was recorded after the release of their most recent album, Valtari, and is part of the “Valtari Mystery Film Experiment” that the band put together which allowed for the music videos of each of the twelve songs on their album to be created by different directors.

The video, which was written and directed by Nick Abrahams and produced by Dhiraj Mahey, features a snail with the voice of renowned folk singer Shirley Collins guiding Aiden Gillen out of the forest. The director commented via Sigur Rós’website that this video can serve as a trailer for a lengthier feature film.
