Sinkane has shared the title track from his forthcoming studio album, “Dépaysé”. The song follows the previously-released single, “Everybody“, which was shared along with the album’s announcement back in February. Dépaysé arrives on May 31st via City Slang Records.

Sinkane, the musical alias for guitarist and songwriter Ahmed Gallab, is no stranger to the world of global rock-fusion music. The musician celebrates an ancestral heritage of both Sudanese and American backgrounds, and even took viewers to the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro in the video for “Everybody”.

Gallab channels his love for psychedelia on “Dépaysé”, mixing waves of masterful guitar work with the ease of acoustic-based folk rock. Like the brilliant songwriter he is, Gallad takes his time easing into the song by first guiding the listener through a ride of colorful lead guitar lines before eventually coming in for a soft landing into the opening lyrics starting at the 1:15-minute mark. Gallab also mixes lyrics sung in both English and Arabic with subtle ease throughout the song, adding to the recording’s already lush mix of power and melodic flow.

“Dépaysé is a French word that basically means ‘to be removed from one’s habitual surroundings.’ By extension, it means to be disoriented, homeless. That’s a feeling I relate to very much in these times,” Gallab mentioned in a statement to go with the song’s release on Tuesday. “I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way. That word gave me clarity and made my journey of self discovery that much more exciting.”

To further showcase his love for psychedelia, Sinkane recruited Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show to produce the colorful and stimulating visuals for the song’s music video. Gallab, an outspoken fan of the Grateful Dead, taps into something special with his video, as this is the same Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show which provides visual aids to numerous jam bands and psych-rock groups as a heady backdrop to their live shows.
