Spafford has shared full-show video from the band’s New Year’s Eve show at The Get Down in Portland, OR, including a unique trance/house/breakbeat/DJ set the band said they “talked about doing for years.”
Following a first set comprised of “The Postman”, a cover of Filter‘s “Take a Picture”, and a pairing of “Left on the Runway” and “Dirtbath”, the special experimental second set kicked off with a trance-style interpretation of Stone Temple Pilots‘ “Plush”, followed by a breakbeat-style rendition of “Giants in the Light”. A house-style reimagining of John Coltrane‘s “Impressions” kept the dance grooves flowing into a trance version of “Pursuit of Madness”, and the set wrapped up with a cover of Ferry Corsten‘s “Punk” and a digital version of “Legend”.
Spafford returned to the stage to officially ring in the new year, kicking off set three with Cracker‘s “Low” before counting down the final second of 2023 during “Electric Taco Stand”. The traditional “Auld Lang Syne” ushered in 2024 before giving way to “Leave The Light On”, and Spafford capped the set off with “Funkenseven” before returning for a “Weasel” encore.
