Today, Spafford, the fast-rising jam quartet out of Arizona, has finally released their brand-new album, For Amusement Only, as a self-release. The new album marks the group’s second official studio album, serving as a follow-up to their self-titled debut that was released nearly six years ago in 2012. However, since their debut record, Spafford has released five official live recordings in addition to their acclaimed hour-long Abaculus: An Improvisational Experience, which was released last summer.

For Amusement Only contains twelve tracks, which represent a healthy mix of new material and older tunes that have become a staple of their explosive live shows. Fan-favorites like “Leave The Light On”, “Ain’t That Wrong”, and “Hollywood” date back to the earlier part of this decade, while songs like “Mind’s Unchained”, “Simon & Lily”, and “It’s A Bunch” were debuted live as recently as last year. While fans will be familiar with almost all of the songs on For Amusement Only from Spafford’s live shows, the album also contains the tunes “Fuel” and “When It Falls”, which have yet to be played in concert by the band.

Spafford – For Amusement Only

Spafford hyped the release of the new album with their similarly named “For Amusement Only” 2018 headlining tour, which saw the band play sold-out clubs across the country, earning new nationwide fans in droves. Although Spafford first toured outside of the Southwest during the tail end of 2016, the band quickly transformed into a nationally renowned powerhouse over the course of 2017. After two shows at Republic NOLA coinciding with New Orleans’ legendary Jazz Fest tonight and tomorrow, the band looks to the future with gigs at high-profile events like Summer Camp, Bisco Inferno at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Bonnaroo, Firefly, High Sierra, LOCKN’ and more in addition to an extended run with Umphrey’s McGee in August.
