When Stephen Colbert takes over The Late Show this fall, he’ll be bringing along a New Orleans staple. Jon Batiste, who’s family was featured on the hit HBO series Treme, will replace longtime bandleader Paul Shaffer come September 8th.
Batiste is a Julliard-trained pianist, and has collaborated with the likes of Prince, Lenny Kravitz, and Wynton Marsalis in the past. He’s known for his unique form of “social music,” interacting with the audience to create a one-of-a-kind experience. His band, Stay Human, will be joining the show as well.
In the clip introducting Batiste, Colbert says: “His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ‘Do Not Make Love’ sign… I’m thrilled! This is a match made in heaven. Get ready for a love riot in late night!”
