Reggie-jam mainstays Roots of Creation have teamed up with reggae icon Stephen Marley for a dubbed out rendition of the Grateful Dead classic “Fire On The Mountain”. The delightful take on this fan favorite will be featured on Grateful Dub—Roots of Creation’s forthcoming reggae tribute to the Grateful Dead—but the song premiered earlier today via Billboard.

According to Billboard, Roots Of Creation set out to record a tribute to the Grateful Dead following the success of their “Row Jimmy” cover, which appeared on their 2016 album, Livin’ Free. The band hit the studio with famed reggae producer Errol Brown (Bob Marley, Rebelution), who ended up producing and mixing the entire thirteen-song release in 26 hours.

“He’s just amazing, we were super excited to have someone help guide us in the studio and who could help obtain the sounds that we were striving for,” Roots of Creation frontman Brett Wilson told Billboard of Brown. “Obviously he’s an originator of a lot of those sounds. Why imitate when you can get the original?”

Brown and Silverback Artist Management founder Jon Phillips also introduced the band to Marley, who was very happy to contribute his vocals to the track, saying, “It’s a great song and great vibes from Roots of Creation.”Marley even put his own spin on the Grateful Dead favorite by adding a new verse to the end of the tune.

You can give the Grateful Dub rendition of “Fire On The Mountain” a listen below, and you can check out a full list of dates for the band’s upcoming Grateful Dub tour via their website. The full album is due out on Friday, March 9th.
