The Police drummer Stewart Copeland is plotting a run of international dates with orchestras that will celebrate The Police’s timeless catalog.

Billed as Police Deranged for Orchestra, the tour’s announcement promises “a high energy orchestral evening celebrating the work of [the] legendary rock star and composer. Following his high impact Light Up The Orchestra project celebrating his composition in Film, TV and Video Games, Police Deranged for Orchestra focuses on the epic rise of Stewart’s career in music that has spanned over four decades.”

Sung by four singers and a full symphony orchestra, the shows will feature orchestral arrangements of The Police favorites like “Roxane”, “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”, and “Message In A Bottle” as well as hand-picked highlights from Copeland’s other hits. The five-city, seven-show Stewart Copeland orchestra run will begin with a performance in the Netherlands on August 22nd. From there, Stewart Copeland will bring his Police Deranged orchestral show to North America for shows in Seattle, WA (9/30); Vancouver, B.C. (10/2); Nashville, TN (10/29, 10/30, 10/31), and Atlanta, GA (11/13).

Copeland made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the vastly different acts in a Facebook post announcing the orchestra tour, joking “It will take an army of orcs to replace those two guys,” likely a reference to Police bandmates Sting and Andy Summers, whose roles will be filled by orchestras on this run.

Stewart Copeland has frequently been in headlines as of late thanks to the recent return of Oysterhead, his supergroup with bassist Les Claypool (Primus) and guitarist Trey Anastasio (Phish).
