Finally, Gorillaz have returned to the public consciousness after seven years of musical silence, with the official release of their 2017 Humanz. Twenty six (!) tracks complete the new record, with guest contributions from Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, Grace Jones, De La Soul, Savages’ Jehnny Beth, Pusha T, Danny Brown, Vince Staples, Kelela, and D.R.A.M.

The virtual brainchild of Damon Albarn and Jaimie Hewlett reunites 2-D, Murdoc, Russel, and Noodle for a world of musical adventure. In a recent interview with Dan Albarn, he expressed how comfortable he was with completing Humanz, revealing there are still 40-45 tracks that didn’t make it onto the record. “I can stay in the game for at least another 18 months, I reckon.” This is great news for fans who once worried their beloved “animated” group would be gone forever, though a future, indeed, is here.
