The String Cheese Incident surprised fans with a brand new EP called Into The Blue Friday morning. Though only four songs in length, the release covers as much musical ground as an SCI live show, featuring the band’s interpretation of Peter Gabriel‘s “Solsbury Hill”, an expansive contemplation of flight from Kyle Hollingsworth “Dragonfly”, and an electronic folk-tinged hoedown “Hi Ho No Show”, which was previously released as a single.

The title track, “Into The Blue”, was written by multi-instrumentalist Michael Kang in 2018 as his mother was passing. “There didn’t seem to be any fear, or sadness,” The String Cheese Incident wrote on social media. “Instead, he saw her make a conscious decision to release herself of earthly matters and let the proverbial current carry her.”
