The Indiana Pacers have tapped Michael Kang, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist for pioneering Colorado jam-grass outfit The String Cheese Incident, to sing the national anthem ahead of their NBA Finals Game 3 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Indianapolis, IN’s Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday, June 11th.

“Excited to announce Michael Kang of SCI will be singing the National Anthem prior to Wednesday’s Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN,” the band noted in a social media post announcing Kang’s appearance. “Thanks to the Indiana Pacers for this incredible opportunity!” Kang’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” will take place just before the tie-breaking third game in the best-of-seven Pacers/Thunder Finals matchup tips off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The String Cheese Incident is set to launch its summer 2025 tour on June 12th, the day after the Michael Kang NBA Finals national anthem, with a performance at Portland, ME’s Thompson’s Point featuring support from Lettuce. The tour due to run through June and into July, includes appearances at music festivals like All Good Now in Columbia, MD (6/14), North to Shore Festival in Newark, NJ (6/17), and Electric Forest (6/21, 6/22) and perform headlining amphitheater shows at Lewiston, NY’s Artpark Amphitheater (6/18), Cincinnati, OH’s Andrew J. Brady Music Center (6/19, with Eggy), New Braunfels, TX’s Whitewater Amphitheater (7/11, 7/12), Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheater (7/18 with The Wood Brothers, 7/19 with Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country), and more.
