String Cheese Incident just premiered the music video for “My One And Only” via Creators/Vice. The song is off of String Cheese’s latest album, Believe, which was released last month, and also features the Bonnie Paine from Colorado’s Elephant Revival in addition to Cheese’s resident keyboard wizard Kyle Hollingsworth on vocals. The new video for “My One And Only” is a digital mixed-media project combining video, illustration, and digital animation created by Solar Cabin. The end project is gorgeous to take in, perfectly complementing the ethereal nature of the song with its whimsical watercolor-inspired imagery.

The String Cheese Incident Spread Love In New “Believe” Album [Review/Stream]

In the premiere on Creators, artist Jason Denton of Solar Cabin gives some insight into the creation of the music video: “We initially interpreted the song as an expression of the longing a person feels when they are on the road for an extended time. . . . While experiencing the beauty and wonder of the larger world, you can never quite shake that longing for home and the loved ones you miss.”

This statement echoes Hollingsworth’s own account of the intention behind “My One And Only, as he told Relix in an interview last month,”I love [Bonnie’s] voice. I think it’s so unique and I wanted to showcase her vocals. When I got together with her, I didn’t really have the lyrics done. So I hit her up and she was like, “Sure I’ll help you write lyrics as well.” So we got together, and she came up with the chorus and I started working on some of the verses. We talked about being on the road a lot and missing our loved ones back home. So we worked out the melodies and went through it together, and she improvised the whole last half of the song.”
