Today, Colorado-based hydro-funk trio Sunsquabi have released their latest full-length album, Instinct. The album is described by the band as a “biological-themed journey of evolution”, with each song’s namesake inspired by a creature or biological element reflecting a distinct life of its own.
The new LP finds the band at their highest peak as they continue their dedication to the metamorphosis of their own sound. Capturing elements in their live performances in the studio, as well as improvisational jams, the band has turned these sonic developments into full-blown songs and staples in their own repertoire.
In addition to band members Kevin Donohue (guitar/production), Josh Fairman (bass/synth bass), and Chris Anderson (drums), the album also features Nick Gerlach on saxophone (“Pangolin”), Spencer Anderson on violin (“Chrysalis”), Chris Karns (Pretty Lights) on turntables, and Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident) on percussion.
