The wait for a new Tame Impala album will finally end in 2020 with the release of The Slow Rush, the first full-length release from the Kevin Parker-led project since 2015’s Currents.

Excitement for the album announcement had been building since a mysterious teaser video appeared on the Tame Impala website earlier this week. Then, late on Thursday night, this new video appeared on the Tame Impala YouTube page:

The new video features several of the same visual elements of the teaser video from earlier in the week. This time, however, the brief clip comes with some new Tame Impala grooves and two vital pieces of information: “The Slow Rush. 2020.”

Tame Impala had started to build towards what will be their fourth studio album back in the spring with the releases of “Borderline” in April. The band also showcased the new material during their appearance on Saturday Night Live in late March.

The band recently wrapped their run of North American fall tour dates, but have no concerts planned in the coming months. You can head to the Tame Impala website to keep up with new updates, though at press time the landing page is an ominously empty black screen (don’t expect it to stay that way for long).

While we’ll likely have to wait a little longer for more details, you can go ahead and start getting excited for a new Tame Impala album in 2020. The Slow Rush is coming…
