Tank and The Bangas have announced an extensive run of North American tour dates this fall. The New Orleans five-piece (brought to fame as the unanimous winners of NPR Tiny Desk contest in 2017) will share the headlining bill with Big Freedia, with opening support from Naughty Professor. The fall tour includes stops in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Portland, and more.
It’s been a wild ride since the band jumped on the map in spring of 2017. Following up the band’s only LP, 2013’s Think Tank, in April, Tank and The Bangas released “Smoke.Netflix.Chill“, their first release via a major label (Verve Forecast). Led by vocalist and songwriter Tarriona “Tank” Ball, the group continues to evolve in more ways than just music, as Tank continues to grow and develop as a performer and writer.
Even back in the open-mic days, she was a force of nature. “I don’t know if there’s such a thing as too free, but it was totally uninhibited. She was inspired,” Norman Spence (synth keys, bass) says in a press release. More recently, Ball has become less of a dervish onstage—“I was running around so much I didn’t have time to sing at all,” she says, while finding new ways of expressing herself as a writer.
Tank and The Bangas are a force to be reckoned with, and show not to be missed. Check out the full tour schedule below. For more information on their upcoming adventures, head to Tank and The Bangas’ official website.
