Tank And The Bangas will play a 12-show residency at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City this November.
The residency will take place over two weekends, with an early and a late show (at 8:00 and 10:30 p.m. respectively) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. It will kick off on November 11th, with additional shows on the 12th and 13th, and a second set of six shows will take place the following weekend, on November 18th, 19th, and 20th. Billed as Tank And The Bangas + Friends, the residency is sure to feature collaborations with special guests, as is customary for Blue Note residencies.
Tickets for Tank And The Bangas’ Blue Note residency are on sale now, with both table and bar area seating available (all seating is first come, first served). A full dinner menu will be available for those seated at tables.
Tank And The Bangas have earned widespread acclaim with their soulful blend of hip-hop and R&B since winning NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2017. Their sound combines infectious grooves with the poetic stylings of singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball, who developed her voice in New Orleans’ local slam poetry scene before meeting her bandmates Merell Burkett on keyboards, Joshua Johnson on drums, Norman Spence on bass and synth keys, and, eventually, Albert Allenback on alto sax and flute.
The band has quickly grown from aspirational contestants to inspirational stars, having been nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammy Awards and recently performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Their new album, Red Balloon, is out now, and they are currently on tour with Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown alongside Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Big Freedia, Cyril Neville the Uptown Ruler, The Soul Rebels, George Porter Jr., and Dumpstaphunk.
