After staging just two shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre—rather than their typical yearly five-plus-show Beacon residency—Tedeschi Trucks Band migrated over to Brooklyn to set up shop for another two nights at Kings Theatre.

On TTB’s first night at the Brooklyn venue, the 12-piece ensemble led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi delivered two electrifying sets, weaving together a soulful blend of originals and classic covers. The show opened with fan-favorite “Don’t Let Me Slide” and included powerful renditions of Derek and the Dominos‘ “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?”. The Allman Brothers Band’s “Come and Go Blues” added a nostalgic touch, for the former ABB guitarist, while the band’s own “Bound for Glory” triumphantly capped the first set.

Set two saw the group dive into a mix of genres, with highlights like Prince‘s “1999”—a song the band debuted in The Purple One’s hometown of Minneapolis back in August—and Dr. John‘s “I Walked on Guilded Splinters”. A standout was the soulful “Shame”, which teased jazz legend John Coltrane’s “Love Supreme” and the Allman Brothers’ “Whipping Post”. The night concluded with an emotive encore of “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free” by Billy Taylor.
